You do NOT have to give your name or sign anything to get harm reduction supplies or information.

General

• Help or advocacy with issues such as housing, addictions, food, legal, etc.
• Counselling and referrals.
• Weekly newsletter containing resources and other information.
• Engage with the community and support community-identified needs - particularly that support the well-being of people who use drugs or are street involved.

Nursing services

Public Health Nurses are in the van Friday and Saturday evening. They provide:

• Testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis, and HIV; and treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
• Pregnancy testing, prenatal services, information about pregnancy options, and referrals.
• Vaccines (shots) against hepatitis A & B, the flu, and other illnesses.
• Care for minor wounds and abscesses.
• Referrals to other programs and services, including prenatal care
• General health information.

Safer drug use supplies

• Sharing drug use supplies can put you at risk for a number of infections, like hepatitis C or HIV.
• Street Connections provides clean injection supplies, like needles, sharps containers,  swabs, and spoons, along with inhalation supplies for safer crack use (stems and mouthpieces).
• We also take used needles and safely dispose them.

Safer sex supplies

• We provide condoms, lube, and safer sex information.

Home visits

• We do home visits for needle exchanges and some nursing services. Call us to figure out the best way to connect with you.
• We do not give crack pipes on home visits.

Things we do NOT do:

• Report your sex work, drug use, or other activities to the police.
• Give out money or bus tickets.
• Give rides.
• Tell others about you unless you ask us to.
• Charge for our services.

Street hassles and ‘bad dates’

A"bad date" is an encounter between a sex worker / anyone involved in the sex trade and someone who is violent / abusive in any way. It is also any incident of theft, refusal of payment, threats, rudeness, time wasting, no shows, harassment, aggressive behaviour, etc. A bad date is anything you would want to warn or let others sex workers know about so they can avoid them.

• The Winnipeg Bad Date List is a community based project that provides options for people wishing to learn about bad dates or share their experiences with others in the community.

Third Party Reporting of Sexual Assault Offences

The Winnipeg Police Service, in partnership with Klinic Community Health Centre, Heart Medicine Lodge (Ka Ni Kanichihk) and Sage House (Mount Carmel Clinic) has developed a new protocol in the City of Winnipeg for survivors of sexual abuse. Third Party Reporting offers survivors the option of reporting the details of their case anonymously to the Winnipeg Police Service through a third-party Community Based Victim Services Agency.
